Industrial part identification and cross-reference

Most delays in parts sourcing start with an incomplete number. A few minutes at the machine with a camera saves days later.

Where to find the number

  • The nameplate or rating label on the side or front of the unit
  • A second label under a cover, on the back, or on the circuit board
  • The machine's electrical drawings and spare-parts list
  • The packaging or the purchase record of the last replacement

What a useful photo shows

  • The whole label, in focus, without glare
  • Order number and the revision or version field
  • Serial number (helps date the unit)
  • The unit installed, showing connectors and option cards

How a cross-reference is judged

Explain the difference between an exact match, a confirmed replacement and an alternativeClaim to be an authorised distributor of any manufacturer

Questions and answers

The label is unreadable. Can you still help?
Often. Send photos of the unit, its connectors and the machine it sits in, plus any drawings. We will say what can and cannot be identified from them.
Do you decide whether an alternative is acceptable?
No. We present the evidence; the decision is yours or your engineer's.

Can't find what you need?

Send us the part number, a nameplate photo or a datasheet — or describe the machine — and we'll source it for you. Partial information is fine.
